Obverse description Small draped bust of Cæcilius Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore, facing left, with flowing hair, occupying the central field. The portrait is rendered in a modest, somewhat crude hammered style characteristic of mid-17th-century colonial coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, interrupted at the top by a small cross pattée. The legend reads CÆCILVS DNS TERRÆ MARIÆ &C, identifying the proprietor as Lord of Terra Mariae.
