Obverse description Draped and laureate bust of Charles XI as a youth facing left, with flowing curled hair tied at the nape and a laurel wreath, occupying the central field. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine baroque detail in the drapery folds at the truncation. The peripheral legend in Latin capital letters reads CAROLVS·XI REX·SVECIÆ, separated by pellet stops, and is bounded by a raised beaded border running the full circumference of the flan.

Reverse description Central device consisting of the Swedish state shield bearing the three crowns of Sweden — two in chief and one in base — arranged on a plain field within a simple escutcheon, surmounted by an elaborate open royal crown rendered in high relief. The shield occupies the majority of the reverse field and is set against a flat ground. The circumferential Latin legend DOMINVS·PROTECTOR·MEVS, meaning 'The Lord is my Protector', runs around the periphery separated by pellet stops and is enclosed by a raised beaded border matching the obverse.
