Obverse description Cast iron coin of square-holed cash type, bearing the four-character legend 寛永通寶 (Kan'ei Tsūhō) arranged in cruciform fashion around the central square perforation, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left in the traditional Chinese numismatic convention. The character 寛 appears at the top, 永 at the bottom, 通 to the right, and 寶 to the left, each rendered in standard script (kaisho). The field is plain and unadorned, with a raised rim encircling the coin, and the casting shows the characteristic textured surface typical of late Edo-period iron cash coinage.
