Reverse description The reverse displays a decorative pattern of eleven stylized waves in raised relief, symmetrically arranged around the central square hole and filling the entire field between the inner square rim and the outer raised border. The wave motifs are rendered in a conventional East Asian style, with each wave segment depicted as a curved, overlapping arc. The arrangement and height of the waves vary among the known sub-varieties, distinguishing the 低波 (teiha, low waves) from the 高波 (kōha, high waves) types.
