Reverse description The reverse features eleven raised wave motifs (nanako-nami) arranged in a radiating pattern that fills the entire field between the central square hole and the outer rim. The waves are rendered as symmetrical, arc-shaped bands separated by incuse dividing lines, creating a bold, geometric decorative composition. This distinctive wave design, known as nami-gata, is the principal diagnostic feature of the Bunkyūeihō 4 Mon series. The square central perforation is framed by a raised rectangular collar, and the broad flat rim is plain and unadorned.
