| Obverse description | Central field displays a crowned heraldic shield bearing the imperial double-headed eagle, surmounted by an open crown. The shield is rendered in a late Gothic style typical of Burgundian Netherlands coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters runs along the outer border, separated from the central device by a beaded inner circle. The overall design asserts the regnal authority of Maximilian I as King of the Romans and guardian of the young Philip. |
