| Obverse description | The field is dominated by the quartered arms of Austria-Burgundy, depicting the combined heraldic shields of the Habsburg and Burgundian dynasties arranged in four quadrants. The escutcheon is surmounted by an imperial or ducal crown and flanked by the surrounding peripheral legend. The design is executed in the flat, linear hammered style characteristic of late 15th- to early 16th-century Low Countries billon coinage. The legend, rendered in Gothic uncial lettering, runs continuously around the outer border of the coin. |
