| Obverse description | The quartered coat of arms of Burgundy occupies the central field, displayed within a shield surmounted by a crown. The composite escutcheon incorporates the heraldic quarters of Burgundy ancient and modern, rendered in bold relief characteristic of mid-15th-century Low Countries hammered coinage. The arms are enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the surrounding circular legend in uncial Gothic characters reading the duke's titles.
