Obverse description Armored bust of King Gustav II Adolf facing right, depicted in three-quarter view wearing a cuirass and royal mantle, holding a scepter. The effigy is rendered in a bold relief characteristic of early seventeenth-century hammered coinage. The circular Latin legend surrounding the portrait reads GVSTAV : ADOLF · DG · SVEC : GOT : V : REX ·, identifying the king as Gustav Adolf, by the Grace of God King of Sweden, the Goths, and the Wends. The field is plain, and the design occupies the full flan with robust, slightly irregular strike typical of the period.
