Obverse description Central field dominated by the crowned royal cypher of Frederik III, formed by an elaborate interlaced monogram of the letter F and the numeral 3, surmounted by a large arched and jewelled royal crown with fleurs-de-lis and cross finial. The monogram is rendered in bold relief against a flat field. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circular Latin legend reading DOMINUS PROVIDEBIT (The Lord will provide) distributed around the periphery, interrupted by pellet stops. The overall composition is characteristic of late seventeenth-century Danish milled coinage.
