Obverse description Equestrian effigy of King Frederik IV facing right in a formal parade posture, mounted on a prancing horse. The king is depicted in elaborate full armour with a sash bearing the badge of the Order of the Elephant suspended at his chest. His raised right arm holds a scepter aloft. The denomination IIII MARCK DANSKE appears in the exergue, separated from the mounted figure by a horizontal ground line, while the royal legend is distributed around the upper field.
