Obverse description Large crowned royal cypher of Frederik III occupies the central field, partially enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The cypher is rendered in an ornate interlaced monogram style surmounted by an elaborate crown. The outer legend, running clockwise beyond the beaded circle, declares the denomination in Danish and is concluded by the date. The composition is bold and heraldic, characteristic of mid-17th-century Danish coinage.
