Reverse description Central device displays the elaborately quartered royal arms of Denmark surmounted by a large arched royal crown with cross finial, the shield supported by mantling or decorative drapery at the sides. The quartered shield incorporates the arms of Denmark (three lions passant with nine hearts), Norway (lion rampant with axe), the Oldenburg and Delmenhorst quarters, and other dynastic territories, rendered in fine detail. The mintmaster's initials G S appear in the exergue below the shield. The peripheral legend reads IIII · MARCK to the right and DANSKE · 1686 to the left, in Roman capitals, denoting the denomination and the issuing kingdom with the date of striking.
