| Obverse description | Crowned arms of the Bishopric of Osnabrück occupying the central field, featuring a rampant lion on a horizontally striped (barry) shield beneath a crown. The armorial shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with the circular Latin legend reading FRAN. GVIL. EP. O. R. M. V. S. R. I. P. (Franciscus Guilielmus, Bishop of Osnabrück, Count of the Holy Roman Empire) surrounding it. The overall style is consistent with mid-seventeenth-century German hammered coinage, with irregular flan edges typical of the period. |
