Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Ferdinand VII facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair bound by a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon at the nape. The Segovia aqueduct mintmark appears to the left of the effigy, and the denomination numeral '4' to the right. The date 1832 is positioned in the lower exergual area. The circumferential legend reads FERDN · VII · D · G · HISP · REX, interrupted by the bust, in Latin script.

Reverse description Central crowned quartered shield bearing alternating castles of Castile and rampant lions of León, with a small oval escutcheon at centre bearing three fleurs-de-lis representing the Bourbon dynasty. The shield is flanked by the Cross of Don Pelayo, composed of two horizontal and two vertical arms terminating in further castles and lions. The entire design is encircled by a wreath of laurel or olive branches, with no visible legend on the reverse.
