Obverse description Central field features the quartered Royal Arms of Spain, displaying castles of Castile and lions of León in the first and fourth quarters, with the fleurs-de-lis of the Bourbon dynasty in the base quarter, all within a pointed shield surmounted by a royal crown. The peripheral legend reads PHILIP·V·D·G·HISPAN·REX· with the denomination numeral IIII, separated by ornamental stops. The design is rendered in a bold, somewhat rustic style characteristic of the Valencia Mint's early eighteenth-century copper coinage.
