Reverse description Within a beaded border, the field displays a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold calligraphic script indicating the denomination, mint, and AH date. The legend reads '4 Lariat, struck in Malé, Maldives, 1320', arranged in several lines across the flan. The AH date 1320 (corresponding to 1902 CE) appears in Arabic-Indic numerals at the base of the inscription. The design follows the standard aniconic format of Maldivian coinage of the period.
