Obverse description Central field features the imperial eagle of Aachen displayed with wings spread, facing to the right, rendered in a bold and somewhat crude hammered style characteristic of early 17th-century German municipal coinage. The eagle, a traditional heraldic emblem of the Free Imperial City, occupies the majority of the flan. A date or mint mark appears in the lower field beneath the eagle's talons. The coin exhibits heavy patination consistent with its copper composition and age.
