Obverse description Crowned quartered royal arms of Spain within an elaborate shield, displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in the first and fourth quarters, and the chains of Navarre and fleurs-de-lis of the Bourbon dynasty in the remaining quarters, with the pomegranate of Granada at the base. The crowned shield is set within a scalloped border formed by rosettes or quatrefoil ornaments. The circular Latin legend reads PHILIPPVS · V · DEI · GRAT, with the mint mark S (Seville) visible at the base of the coin.
