| Obverse description | Quartered shield bearing the castles of Castile and lions of León in alternating quadrants, each charge contained within a plain border, the whole divided by a bold cross. A partial beaded inner border is visible along the left margin. The irregular flan, characteristic of cob coinage, results in partial impressions of the surrounding legend. The shield typology follows the standard Habsburgo-Borbónico arms adopted for Felipe V's colonial gold coinage. |
