Obverse description Large armored bust of Carlos III facing right, occupying the central field. The effigy displays the king in military cuirass with a draped mantle. A circular legend surrounds the portrait, reading CAROL•III•D•G•HISP•ET IND•R•, with the date placed at the bottom of the coin below the bust truncation. The portrait reflects the style associated with the official royal effigy issued for Spanish colonial coinage of the period.
