| Obverse description | St. Rupert, enthroned in full pontifical regalia, is depicted facing forward, holding a salt box in his right hand and a crozier in his left. He is seated above an elaborate oval heraldic shield divided into seven quarters: quarters 1 and 2 bear the arms of the Salzburg Archbishopric; quarters 3 and 6 display the Meier zu Reitnau family arms; quarters 4 and 5 show the arms of the Lords of Eschenz in Thurgau; and at the chief, the personal ancestral arms of Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau are prominently placed. The circular Latin legend SANCTVS RVDBE RTVS EPS SALISBV runs along the periphery of the coin. |
