Obverse description Armored bust of John George III, Elector of Saxony, facing right, wearing articulated pauldron and cravat, with flowing curled hair falling to the shoulders in the Baroque manner. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the plate armor, including decorative rivets along the shoulder guard. The circumferential Latin legend reads IOH GEORG · III · D G · DUX · SAX · I · C · & · M, distributed around the periphery of the field. The portrait occupies the central field in a bold, confident style characteristic of late seventeenth-century Saxon coinage.
