Obverse description Conjoined busts of Queen Joanna and King Charles I facing left, both crowned, with a sceptre or cross staff visible between them in the field. The effigies are rendered in a late Gothic hammered style with draped shoulders and are set within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend in Latin reads +IOANNA ET CAROLVS R ARA COMIT BARCI, identifying the joint monarchs as rulers of Aragon and Counts of Barcelona.
