Obverse description Deathbed scene depicting King Gustav II Adolf recumbent upon the battlefield, his body rendered in profile within an elaborate allegorical composition. Two winged angels are shown bearing the king's soul heavenward, the scene executed in high relief in the Baroque manner. The Latin legend encircles the composition, occupying the outer field and portions of the exergual area, invoking the king's full royal titulature and the epithet AUGUSTUS, followed by the devotional phrase EUGE SERVE FIDELIS. The date 1634 appears prominently within the legend, commemorating the year of issue. The overall design reflects the commemorative and hagiographic tradition of 17th-century Swedish memorial coinage.
