| Reverse description | Two mitred and vested episcopal figures, Saints Rupert and Virgil, the patron saints of Salzburg, standing facing one another in full pontifical robes and crowns, jointly holding a tall processional staff between them. Between and below the two saints appears a detailed depiction of Salzburg Cathedral or a stylized architectural view of the city. The scene is rendered in the bold, sculptural late Renaissance style characteristic of Salzburg mint production. A Latin legend naming both saints runs around the circumference within a beaded inner border: S RVDBERTVS ET S VIRGILIVS EP. |
