Obverse description Half-length effigy of Elector Frederick William of Brandenburg facing front, wearing a fur-trimmed mantle with ermine spots over armour, his long hair falling to his shoulders. The portrait is rendered in bold relief within a raised inner circle. The surrounding Latin legend records his title, birth date of 6 February 1620, and Electoral dignity, reading clockwise from the upper field.

Reverse description Six-line Latin inscription filling the field, recording the name and birth of Prince Charles Aemilius of Brandenburg as Electoral heir, born 6 February 1655. A princely crown surmounts the inscription at the top of the field, while the denomination numeral 4, punched in, appears at the base below a decorative cartouche, all within a plain border.
