Reverse description The reverse displays a panoramic view of the city of Regensburg, rendered in fine detail with towers, walls, and architectural features of the cityscape along the Danube river. Above the city view, a magnificent imperial double-headed eagle with spread wings rises prominently, its heads crowned and its breast bearing a large orb or imperial orb surmounted by a cross. Radiating sunbeams emanate from behind the eagle, lending a celestial and imperial grandeur to the composition. The circular legend RESPICIT HÆC POPVLVM RESPICIT ILLA POLVM encircles the entire design, alluding to the dual nature of the imperial assembly — one face looking toward the people, the other toward heaven. The reeded border frames this richly detailed baroque composition.
