Obverse description Draped bust of Scipione Gonzaga facing left, with loose hair falling to the neck and an elaborately embroidered collar and armored pauldron visible at the truncation. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the baroque style characteristic of Italian Renaissance coinage. The surrounding Latin legend reads SCIP D G DVX SABL S R I EBOZ PRIN ET C, distributed around the outer border within a beaded circle.

Reverse description Full-length figural scene depicting Christ standing to the left, presenting the keys of Heaven to Saint Peter, who kneels in a posture of reverence to the right; both figures are draped in flowing robes rendered in fine relief typical of seventeenth-century Italian engraving. The date in Roman numerals MDCXXXIX appears in the exergue. The surrounding Latin legend TV ES PETRVS PRAESIDIVM NOSTRVM is distributed around the border within a beaded circle, referencing the Petrine commission from the Gospel of Matthew.
