Reverse description The reverse presents a highly detailed rendering of a complete Triceratops skull in profile, referencing a notable fossil specimen discovered in Saskatchewan in 1967. The depiction faithfully reproduces the distinctive three-horned cranium, frill, and beak-like jaw structure characteristic of the species. The coin was struck using a deliberate toning process on the .9999 fine silver planchet to simulate the aged, fossilized appearance of the specimen and to enhance surface contrast. The legend CANADA appears in the upper field, with the denomination 4 DOLLARS inscribed below. This coin represents the second issue in the Royal Canadian Mint's prehistoric animals commemorative series.
