Part of the "Dogs of the World" bullion series issued under Cook Islands' long-standing arrangement with overseas minting houses, this piece contains almost exactly 1/30th troy ounce of fine gold — a deliberately unusual fractional weight designed to hit a low retail price point rather than align with any standard bullion fraction. Cook Islands has issued hundreds of such licensed novelty gold pieces since the 1990s, with the numismatic value almost entirely dependent on the gold spot price at any given moment.
