Maundy Money is an English royal tradition dating to at least the 13th century, in which the sovereign distributes specially struck coins to elderly recipients on Holy Thursday — one penny per year of the monarch's age. Cook Islands has no connection to that tradition. Issuing a gold "Maundy" piece under this attribution is a modern numismatic product exploiting ceremonial nomenclature, not a coin with any liturgical or distributional function.
