| Reverse description | The reverse bears a Paraguayan countermark applied in 1869, consisting of an incuse rectangular or oval punch bearing the three-line legend CUATRO CENTAVOS arranged in the central field. The circular rim legend reads TESORO NACIONAL arcing across the upper portion and BANCO along the lower portion, all in deeply struck Latin capitals. The overall appearance of the countermark is worn and somewhat irregular, consistent with emergency wartime application during the aftermath of the War of the Triple Alliance. |
