Obverse description Central field features the conch shell (sankha), the dynastic emblem of the Travancore royal house, depicted in high relief within a plain raised circle. The conch is rendered in a stylised, ornate manner with scrolling details and a crown-like finial at the apex. Surrounding the central circle, a wreath of foliate branches extends around the full circumference of the coin, enclosed by an outer beaded border. The overall composition is unlettered on this face, with the emblem serving as the sole device.

Reverse description The central field displays the interlaced royal cipher 'RV' (for Rama Varma) in an ornate Latin monogram set within a dotted inner circle. The legend 'FOUR CASH' is inscribed in raised Latin capitals along the upper arc of the coin between two decorative rosette stops, while the Malayalam inscription 'നാലു കാശു' (meaning 'Four Cash') occupies the lower arc, also between rosette ornaments. The entire design is contained within a beaded outer border. The reverse presents a bilingual denomination statement typical of Travancore coinage of this period.
