Obverse description Central field displays the crowned royal cipher of Frederik V, composed of an interlaced Gothic monogram surmounted by a royal crown. The monogram, rendered in a bold relief typical of Danish colonial coinage, occupies the majority of the flan. The coin exhibits an irregular, somewhat crude planchet characteristic of hammered copper coinage produced at the Tranquebar mint.
