Reverse description Two crossed anchors displayed saltire-wise dominate the central field, their stocks and flukes rendered in bold relief. The anchor tips extend toward the coin's edge, surrounded by a border of raised pellets or beads encircling the entire design. This device is associated with the Cochim (Cochin) mint of Portuguese India. The irregular flan and rough surfaces are typical of hammered copper coinage struck at this colonial mint during the reign of Dom Sebastião.
