| Obverse description | Central device consists of the two crossed Keys of Saint Peter, tied together at the junction with an ornate knotted cord whose loops extend symmetrically to either side. The legend CLEMENS XIV is distributed around the upper periphery of the field, with the date 1771 appearing in the lower exergue area between small decorative stops. The coin is struck within a toothed inner border, with the entire composition rendered in a bold, well-centred relief characteristic of Roman Papal mint production of the period. |
