Obverse description Central vignette reproduces a 19th-century oil painting of the Exeter Canal with a tall-masted vessel moored on the canal, Exeter Cathedral visible in the misty background; the work is attributed to Arthur Henry Enock (c. 1890–1900), held by the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery. A holographic anchor security device is applied to the lower-right portion of the vignette, and a square silver foil stamp bearing a stylised Exeter Pound 'E' symbol is affixed to the upper-left corner. The left panel carries the denomination '4.50 EXETER POUNDS' in blue and black letterpress, an issuer text panel noting issuance by Exeter Pound CIC with terms and expiry date, and a gold-foil Exeter Pound logo; the right border bears a green repeated-denomination underprint and the 'THE QUAY — EXETER'S HISTORIC QUAYSIDE' logo alongside '450TH ANNIVERSARY' text.

Reverse description Central vignette rendered in a flat, modern graphic style shows a lively scene along the Quay Cellars waterfront, with figures walking a dog, cyclists, a kayaker on the water, and a jogger, set against stylised arched warehouse entrances labelled 'GIFTS', 'THE CELLARS', and 'CRAFTS', with a plaque reading 'SINCE 1566'. A green guilloche-patterned left panel and repeated-denomination side borders frame the composition, with the Exeter Pound logo in the lower-left corner and attribution text along the right margin crediting the Quay Cellars and designer Matthew Rogers.
