Reverse description Central device depicts the Imperial Arms of Brazil: an armillary sphere charged with a cross, set upon a shield, all surmounted by the Imperial Crown rendered in bold relief. The shield and sphere are encircled by a ring of stars representing the provinces of the Empire. The armorial composition is flanked on either side by branches of laurel and coffee, tied at the base. The surrounding Latin legend reads 'IN HOC SIGNO VINCES', separated by dot ornaments, with additional small floral devices interspersed. The coin's rim is defined by a continuous milled border.
