| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Tsar Nicholas II, depicted with a short beard and naturalistically rendered hair, after the portrait style engraved by A.F. Vasyutinsky. The bust is truncated at the neck and positioned centrally within a beaded border. The surrounding circular legend in pre-reform Cyrillic reads 'Б. М. НИКОЛАЙ II ИМПЕРАТОРЪ И САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ ВСЕРОСС.', abbreviated from the full imperial title 'By the Grace of God, Nicholas II, Emperor and Autocrat of All Russia'. The field is polished and largely plain, with the portrait rendered in high relief consistent with the original 1902 issue. |
