Cassa Rurale di Moena is a small cooperative credit institution in the Fassa Valley, a Ladin-speaking enclave in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Notes of this denomination were issued under the Italian fiduciary small-change system of the 1970s, when a chronic shortage of circulating coin — partly driven by hoarding and the withdrawal of underweight silver coinage — pushed hundreds of local banks, municipalities, and cooperatives to print their own emergency fractional paper. The Banca d'Italia tolerated rather than formally sanctioned the practice.
The 350-lire denomination is among the more unusual values in the entire corpus of Italian emergency issues from this period.
