Reverse description The reverse presents a highly detailed, naturalistic rendition of the Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia purpurea), Canada's national floral emblem. The composition, engraved by José Osio, depicts a full plant in high relief occupying the entire field: the distinctive hollow, pitcher-shaped leaves cluster prominently at the base, while slender curving stems rise to support the nodding, globose flowers rendered with fine petal detail. Secondary buds and leaves extend laterally, lending the design a lush, botanically accurate quality. The engraver's initials JW appear discreetly in the lower right of the field. The coin has no reverse legend, allowing the sculptural floral motif to dominate the mirrored proof surface.
