The Royal Canadian Mint's five-nines gold standard — .99999 fineness — was first achieved in 1999 and remains one of the purest gold compositions struck by any sovereign mint in the world. Maintaining that purity at production scale requires electrolytic refining well beyond the .9999 benchmark used by most competitors, and the RCM guards its proprietary process closely.
