| Obverse description | The crowned Portuguese royal arms occupy the central field, the shield displaying the traditional quartered design with the five quinas and the border of castles, surmounted by an elaborate royal crown. The date is split across the upper field flanking the crown, while the denomination 320 appears in the left field. A five-petalled rose ornament is positioned in the right field. The encircling Latin legend reads continuously around the periphery within a toothed border. |

| Reverse description | An armillary sphere is depicted centrally, superimposed upon the cross of the Order of Christ, whose distinctive red and white cross arms extend to the periphery of the design. The armillary sphere, a symbol of Portuguese maritime exploration and sovereignty over Brazil, is rendered in fine detail showing meridian bands and equatorial rings. A mintmark, where present, appears in the field. The design is enclosed by a plain inner circle and a toothed outer border, with the reverse legend arcing around the circumference. |
