The 31/4 Nasri denomination is itself a minor oddity — a fractional value derived from the Tunisian piastre system operating under Ottoman suzerainty, where local Husainid beys retained enough autonomy to strike their own copper coinage while acknowledging the sultan on the coin itself. This piece names both Abdülmecid I in Constantinople and Muhammad II Bey in Tunis, a dual-authority formula that reflects the careful political balance Tunis maintained throughout the Tanzimat period.
The "large legend" variety distinguishing KM#112.2 from its counterpart is a die-size distinction that emerged from the Tunis mint's inconsistent punch preparation during this run.
