| Reverse description | The reverse features a bold gold-plated high-relief bust of Queen Nefertiti in left-facing profile, closely modelled after the celebrated painted limestone bust created by the sculptor Thutmose circa 1345 BC, now housed in the Neues Museum in Berlin. The effigy displays the queen's distinctive flat-topped blue crown with its ornamental diadem band, elaborate broad collar necklace with scale-pattern detailing, and refined facial features with characteristically elongated neck. The gold plating applied to the bust creates a striking two-tone contrast against the mirror-polished silver field. The surrounding field is otherwise unlettered, allowing the sculptural portrait to dominate the design. |
