Additional information

Paraguay's 1974 commemorative gold program was a creature of the Stroessner dictatorship's appetite for hard currency earnings — these issues were minted almost exclusively for export sale to foreign collectors, never intended to circulate domestically. The Beethoven piece appeared in the year of the composer's 1974 bicentennial commemorations, a convenient hook for international marketing rather than any particular Paraguayan cultural connection to the composer.

KM#132 is part of a broader multi-denomination series issued that year, all sharing the .900 fine gold specification across varying weights.
