Cameroon's commemorative coinage is issued under licensing arrangements — the country lends its legal tender authority to a European distributor, and the coins are never intended to circulate. The Mars series capitalizes on renewed public interest in the planet following a cluster of international missions announced around 2020, including the UAE's Hope probe and China's Tianwen-1, both launched that July.
The digital color-printing process applied to the silver flan is a post-striking operation, not part of the minting itself.
