| Reverse description | The reverse presents a dramatic high-relief portrait of Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt, depicted in three-quarter bust facing left with long flowing hair and clad in classical draped garments and leather bracers. She holds a bow in her left hand and grasps a gilded arrow — rendered with selective gold gilding — diagonally across the composition. To her right, a stag and a hunting hound are rendered in fine sculptural detail, while a bird in flight appears in the upper right field. A quiver of arrows is visible at her back on the left. Greek meander and scrollwork ornaments fill the background field, and a laurel wreath borders the periphery. The incuse legend 'ARTEMIS' appears prominently along the lower arc in bold relief lettering. |
