| Additional information |
Salkaházi Sára was a Hungarian Dominican tertiary and Social Mission Sister who was executed by the Arrow Cross — Hungary's fascist collaborators — on 27 December 1944, reportedly thrown into the Danube along with six Jews she had been sheltering. She was beatified by John Paul II in 2006. Hungary has issued commemoratives for a narrow circle of wartime rescuers over the past two decades, and her inclusion reflects a broader official reckoning with Arrow Cross crimes that remained politically suppressed through most of the communist period.
